- Sleep Shield does not require a microphone for its V1 features and does not record bedroom audio.
- Sleep Shield does not require an account for its core V1 functionality.
- Saved Sleep Shields, preferences, and personalization data are primarily stored locally on your device.
- We use analytics to understand app usage and improve the product.
- The free version may use Google AdMob to display ads outside active Sleep Shield playback sessions.
- Apple App Store / Google Play process in-app purchases and subscription payments.
- We do not intentionally send free-form custom Shield names or audio content to analytics.
1. Who We Are and Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Redops LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Sleep Shield mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
The data controller or business responsible for the Service is:
Redops LLC
Privacy contact: [email protected]
2. Information We Process
The information processed depends on how you use Sleep Shield, your device and platform, whether you use the free or Premium version, and the privacy choices available in your region.
2.1 Information stored locally on your device
Sleep Shield may store the following information locally on your device so that the app can remember your preferences and personalize your experience:
- selected sleep-noise problem and subtype;
- preferred strength and duration settings;
- saved Sleep Shields and mixer configurations;
- sound selections and layer levels;
- morning-feedback preferences and locally derived personalization state;
- app settings and feature preferences;
- local playback/session records needed for app functionality and feedback eligibility.
Core V1 functionality does not require an account or cloud profile. Local data may be removed if you uninstall the app, clear its storage, or reset your device.
2.2 Analytics and usage information
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how Sleep Shield is used and to improve reliability, usability, onboarding, monetization, and product decisions. Analytics may include:
- app opens and onboarding progress;
- selected problem categories and problem-detail categories;
- Shield creation, start, pause, resume, stop, and completion events;
- playback duration derived from actual app session bookkeeping;
- strength and duration selections;
- sound and mixer interactions;
- whether a custom Shield was saved, without sending its free-form name;
- morning-feedback interactions and personalization outcome categories;
- paywall views and purchase-flow events;
- confirmed advertising impression events;
- selected app setting changes;
- limited low-cardinality properties such as Premium status, last selected problem category, whether a saved Shield exists, and whether morning feedback is enabled;
- technical information that Firebase may receive automatically, such as app version, operating system, device model/category, language, approximate region, IP-derived information, and identifiers permitted by the operating system and your privacy choices.
We intentionally design analytics events not to include your name, email address, free-form custom Shield names, microphone recordings, bedroom audio, or other audio content.
2.3 Purchase and subscription information
If you purchase Premium, Apple App Store or Google Play processes your payment. We do not receive your full payment-card number. We may receive or process information needed to determine entitlement status and support purchases, such as:
- product or subscription identifier;
- purchase status and entitlement state;
- renewal/expiration information provided by the store;
- store-provided transaction or receipt information needed to verify access;
- price value and currency when provided by the store for analytics.
2.4 Advertising information
The free version may display ads through Google AdMob when permitted by our product rules. AdMob may process information such as:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information;
- advertising identifiers where permitted;
- ad requests, impressions, clicks, and interaction data;
- consent or privacy-choice signals;
- fraud-prevention, security, and diagnostics information.
Sleep Shield is designed so that ads are not shown while an active Sleep Shield playback session is running.
2.5 Support communications
If you contact us for support, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message contents, screenshots, device/app details, or other information needed to respond to your request.
2.6 What Sleep Shield does not collect for V1 functionality
Sleep Shield V1 does not require microphone access to provide its masking features and does not record, upload, analyze, or store bedroom audio or snoring recordings. The Service is not designed to collect precise GPS location, contacts, photos, health records, or biometric data for its core functionality.
3. How We Use Information
We use information for purposes including:
- providing, maintaining, and operating Sleep Shield;
- remembering your settings, saved Shields, and preferences;
- personalizing recommendations based on your in-app choices and feedback;
- measuring onboarding, engagement, retention, playback usage, and feature adoption;
- understanding which sleep-noise problems and features are most useful;
- processing and restoring Premium access;
- displaying and measuring ads in the free version where permitted;
- protecting against fraud, abuse, errors, and security threats;
- supporting users and responding to requests;
- complying with legal obligations and enforcing our Terms;
- improving and developing the Service.
4. Legal Bases for Processing in the EEA, UK, and Similar Jurisdictions
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Performance of a contract: to provide features you request, maintain Premium access, and deliver the Service.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, understand, and improve the Service where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: where required for analytics, advertising, device identifiers, cookies, or similar processing.
- Legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.
Where consent is required, you may withdraw it through available in-app or platform privacy controls. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
5. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information for money. We use service providers and platform partners to operate Sleep Shield. Depending on the features you use, information may be processed by:
| Provider | Purpose | Examples of information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Analytics and Remote Config | Usage events, app/device information, feature/configuration requests, permitted identifiers |
| Google AdMob | Advertising in the free version and ad measurement | Device/app data, IP-derived information, ad identifiers where permitted, consent signals, ad interactions |
| Apple | App distribution, StoreKit purchases/subscriptions | Store account and transaction information handled under Apple's terms |
| Google Play | App distribution, Play Billing purchases/subscriptions | Store account and transaction information handled under Google's terms |
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. Google privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy. Apple privacy information is available at apple.com/legal/privacy.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, in connection with fraud/security investigations, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to applicable law.
6. Advertising, Consent, and Tracking Choices
Sleep Shield may use Google AdMob to show advertising in the free version. We configure the product so that ads are not shown during active Shield playback.
Where required by applicable law, we will request consent or provide privacy choices before using advertising or analytics technologies that require consent. Depending on your device and region, you may also be able to limit advertising identifiers or tracking through iOS or Android privacy settings.
Sleep Shield does not require you to grant cross-app tracking permission in order to use its core masking functionality. If a future feature requires a new permission or materially different form of tracking, we will provide any required notice and update this Policy.
7. Remote Configuration
We use Firebase Remote Config to safely adjust selected product settings and feature flags. Remote Config may receive app/device information required to retrieve configuration values. Remote Config is not permitted by our product architecture to change Sleep Shield's frozen audio recipes, DSP/EQ processing, or audio-safety rules.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the Service.
- Local app data: generally remains on your device until you delete it through the app where available, clear app data, or uninstall Sleep Shield.
- Analytics and advertising data: is retained according to our configured retention settings and the applicable provider's retention policies.
- Purchase records: may be retained by Apple, Google, and us as needed to maintain entitlements, accounting records, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
- Support messages: may be kept for a reasonable period to resolve requests, maintain support history, and meet legal obligations.
You can request deletion of personal information under our control by contacting [email protected]. Because Sleep Shield does not require an account for its core V1 functionality and intentionally avoids sending direct identifiers in analytics, we may not always be able to identify or delete provider-held analytics data associated with a particular individual unless you provide sufficient information to locate it and applicable law requires deletion.
9. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- request access to personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- request a portable copy of certain information;
- appeal or complain to a competent data-protection authority where applicable.
To exercise a privacy right, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
9.1 California and certain U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of California and some other U.S. states may have additional rights to know, delete, correct, or opt out of certain uses or disclosures of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on applicable statutory definitions and our advertising configuration, certain transfers to advertising or analytics providers may be considered “sharing” or targeted-advertising processing. Where legally required, we provide the applicable consent or opt-out mechanism.
9.2 App-store and device controls
You can manage subscription renewals through your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Device-level privacy, advertising, and identifier controls are available through iOS and Android settings.
10. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than the country in which you live. These countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections or other mechanisms recognized by applicable law.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These safeguards include minimizing the information sent to analytics, avoiding free-form personal data in analytics events, using platform-provided purchase systems, and limiting product permissions to those needed for functionality.
No system or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children's Privacy
Sleep Shield is a general-audience sleep and wellness application and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age at which parental consent is required under applicable law.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in violation of applicable law, contact us at [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps.
13. Health Information
Sleep Shield is a consumer wellness/audio application, not a medical service. The app's problem selections, morning feedback, and playback information are used to provide and improve app functionality. We do not intentionally request medical records, diagnoses, or treatment information.
Do not send sensitive medical information through customer-support messages unless it is necessary for your request.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Sleep Shield evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we may provide notice in the app, on our website, through the app-store listing, or by another appropriate method. The effective date at the top of this Policy will indicate when the latest version became effective.
15. Contact Us
Questions, privacy requests, or complaints may be sent to:
Redops LLC
Privacy email: [email protected]
Support email: [email protected]
If required in your jurisdiction, you may also contact your local data-protection authority.
16. App Store Privacy Disclosures
This Privacy Policy is intended to be read together with the privacy disclosures shown on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those store disclosures summarize data practices in the format required by each platform. If the app's actual data practices change, we will update this Policy and the applicable store disclosures as required.
